Housing consultancy specialist Red Loft, well known in the property industry for offering strategic and practical advice to smaller organisations, are a key partner in a brand-new news-style programme ‘The Future of Housing’.

Co-produced by the Chartered Institute of Housing (CIH) and ITN Productions Industry News, the compelling series delves deep into the challenges and triumphs of the housing sector today, addressing hopes for the future and spotlighting the partnerships making a real difference in a pandemic-informed world.

One such challenge is the accessibility of affordable housing, with innovative solutions needed to meet the ever - growing demand. Red Loft are at the forefront of some of the leading initiatives in the capital.

Danny Sutcliffe, Founding Partner at Red Loft, explains; “We work with a lot of smaller organisations who have enough drive to build new homes, but haven’t necessarily got the expertise to unlock their potential - which is where we come in, providing advice to ensure they deliver the best affordable homes they can.

“It’s so important to highlight those in the industry who are continually adapting and looking for new, innovative ways to deliver housing to those who need it most, and ‘The Future of Housing’ series is a fantastic way to shine a light on some of these exciting initiatives - we are very proud to be involved.”

One such initiative highlighted in the film is an ongoing partnership between Red Loft and non-for-profit housing association Hyelm, who provide accommodation in London for those who cannot afford to rent or buy privately. The partnership works closely to deliver homes in Zone 1 developments, affordable to renters who earn the London Living Wage.

Resident Sophie explains; “Being able to live in central at an affordable price is really invaluable - if it wasn’t for this development, I would really struggle to find an affordable place to live in Zone 1. It’s made me feel as if London is more of a home.”

Speaking about the ongoing relationship between the two companies, Simon Wright, Chief Executive at Hyelm comments; “For Red Loft it wasn’t just about bricks and mortar, it was about building that relationship and building trust between the two parties. Red Loft very early on bought into Hyelm and our ethos, and that shows through in the developments they’ve made with us.”

Anchored by ITN Productions Industry News presenter, the sponsored editorial programme launched at Housing 2020 on 7 September 2020 and will form part of an extensive campaign featuring CIH members and other professional partners.

Reported by Nick Thatcher, the programme also delves into how Red Loft have assisted Registered Providers, ALMOs, housing charities, local authorities and private developers, to develop affordable, aspirational housing in the country’s most unaffordable city. Noting London as one of the most expensive cities in the world to live in, the programme focuses on how Red Loft’s partnerships are dedicated to tackling the housing crisis.
