Red Loft Appoints Terence O’Connor as Director of Sales and Lettings
05 October 2020
Housing and regeneration consultancy Red Loft has appointed Terence O’Connor as Director of Sales and Lettings.
A new director role for the business, this appointment marks the continued expansion of the sales arm of the consultancy, which specialises in development and new homes sales and marketing services for Registered Providers, housing charities, local authorities and private developers.
Bringing with him a wealth of experience in the housing and property sectors, Terence’s most recent role was Head of Sales at Hyde New Homes, the sales division of the Hyde Group.
At Hyde, he spent over six years leading on sales for the housing association’s private sale, Shared Ownership, private and intermediate rental portfolios. His major projects included leading the sales strategy and delivery for the Packington Estate in Islington, an eight-year regeneration project of over 800 new homes, and successfully launching the first ever London Living Rent development in Beckenham in 2017.
Prior to his position at Hyde, Terence enjoyed a varied career in estate agency. Learning the trade from a young age, on leaving school, Terence joined a local estate agent as an office helper in his hometown of Cork, Ireland. Attracted by the buzz of the sales journey and interaction with people, Terence soon relocated to London. Here, he worked in lettings and policy, including stints in high end Notting Hill and Kensington, before moving to Humphreys Skitt and Co in Greenwich (now part of Hamptons International), where he quickly moved through the ranks to be made Director, overseeing both the sales and lettings teams.
In his new role, Terence will head up Red Loft’s Sales and Lettings team, which acts as the sales and lettings agent for a wide range of developers and housing providers across London and South East England. Clients include a number of large RPs, L&Q, Network, Optivo and local authorities and subsidiaries including LB Waltham Forest, Brick by Brick, LB Islington, and also a number of Smaller Housing Associations such as North London Muslims, Tamil Housing Association, Croydon Churches Housing Association.
Terence comments, “I am pleased to be joining Red Loft in this new role at this exciting time for the business. Providing strategic advice to our clients, particularly in challenging and changing times, on current and future sales pipelines, is going to be a key aspect of my role. I look forward to working with a wide breadth of Registered Providers, developers and housing providers, as they launch new developments across the capital and beyond.”
Wendy Hegarty, Red Loft Partner, comments “Terence will be a great asset to our team and our clients, bringing with him a mix of a commercial acumen from the world of estate agency, a proven track record in the housing sector and a passion to support first time buyers. He joins at an exciting time for the business, as we note a surge in demand since lockdown, with our year-on-year sales enquiries nearly doubling compared to 2019. We look forward to his support as we continue to grow our new homes sales, lettings and marketing offer.”
